yield to the troops of the Joint Task Force Sulu at 7:10am Wenesday, WesMinCom

They were voluntarily
surrendered to the troops of the 2nd Special Forces Battalion led by Lieutenant
Colonel Jessie Montoya and were subsequently presented to Colonel Francisco
Ariel Felicidario III, commander of the 101st Brigade around 9:00 this morning
at the Headquarters, 2nd Special Forces Battalion in Barangay Samak, Talipao,
Sulu, LTC Besana disclosed.

added that the surrenderors turned over one US M16 rifle, six US M1 Garand
rifles, one M79 GL, one UZI and two Caliber 45 pistols.
“After the
custodial debriefing at H2SFBn, they were immediately brought to Kuta Heneral Teodulfo
Bautista Station Hospital for physical and medical examination,” said Brigadier
General Divino Rey Pabayo, JTF Sulu Commander.
Besana said
that tor this year alone, a total of 146 Abu Sayyaf members have laid down
their arms and returned to the folds of the law. Among which, 76 surrendered in
Sulu, 63 in Basilan, 5 in Tawi-Tawi, and 2 in Zamboanga.
“This is,
by far, a breakthrough having so much ASG member surrenderors in just a short
span of seven months. We continually encourage the remaining bandits to submit
themselves as we will continue to put pressure until the last man standing will
be taken down,” said WestMinCom Commander Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega.
