Medicine and Money Courier of NPA Captured in Liloy, Zambo Norte for Illegal Possession of Explosives.



LILOY, ZamNorte (Aug.17, 2018) – The joint personnel from Zamboanga Del Norte Provincial Intelligence Branch, 901st Mobile Company of Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9 successfully arrested New People’s Army (NPA) member during the conduct of Intel monitoring and surveillance Wednesday August 15, 2018 at about 2:00pm.

Police Regional Office 9 PIO Chief PCINSP Helen L. Galvez disclosed that the immediate joint operation was conducted after the police receiving information that an alleged member of NPA under Secom Sendong was sighted at Liloy Bus and Food Terminal in Barangay Baybay, Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte.

PCINSP Galvez said that the operating police units coordinated to PNP personnel of Liloy MPS immediately proceeded to the previously mentioned place at about 2:50pm of same date they arrested the suspect who later identified as one Erlinda Sangcom Dalagon, female, 48 years old and currently residing at Sitio Lagpan, Barangay Conception, Kabasalan, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Accordingly, the suspect is a cousin of alleged NPA Commander “Jerson Sangcom” under Secom Sendong who instructed the suspect to deliver the package (Medicine and Money) to the unidentified member of the said group who fled heading towards the municipality of Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte, Galvez added.

Galvez said, the operating troops recovered from her possession and control is one unit hand grenade which accidentally protruded inside in her sling bag while she was sorting her stuff inside the bag. Two police operatives of 901st RMFB9 based at Fatima, Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte, who noticed the incident immediately apprehended the suspect and brought to Liloy MPS for investigation and proper disposition, police official said.

The said suspects were duly appraised on her constitutional rights and the anti-torture law and she was brought to Liloy Integrated Health District Hospital for medical examination. Suspects and the recovered items are now under the custody of Liloy Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.  

Galvez also said that the suspect would be charge for violation of Republic Act 9516 or “An Act Imposing Stiffer Penalties for Certain Violations of Illegal/Unlawful Possession of Explosives." (By JONG CADION)
