ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Department of
Agrarian Reform in Region 9 (DAR-9) said some 902 hectares of land covered by
the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) are still set for distribution
to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARB) in the region.
Lawyer
Resty Osias, DAR-9 OIC regional director, told the Philippine News Agency that
384 of the 902 hectares are in Zamboanga Sibugay; 262 hectares in Zamboanga del
Norte; and 256 hectares in Zamboanga del Sur.
“The
region is on the verge of being declared as Land Tenure Service Program free,”
Osias said.
Osias
said they are focusing on assisting the ARBs to increase their production by
providing support services and equipment once they complete the distribution of
lands.
From
1972 to 2018, DAR-9 has already distributed 234,125 hectares of land to 93,650
ARBs in the region.
Osias
called on all ARBs to join the Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs) to be able to
receive assistance from DAR. (PNA)
