Regional Office 9 announced that the number of shooting incidents in the region
went down by at least 45.71 percent compare to last year covering the period from
January to February, police official disclosed.
PRO9 PIO Chief PCINSP Helen L. Galviz
said that citing the data from the Regional Investigation and Detection
Management Division, a total of 40 shooting incidents registered in the region from January to February of 2019.
Galvez added that the figure was 45.71 percent
lower compared to 72 shooting incidents posted during the same period in 2018.
Galvez explained that the decreased in
the shooting incidents posted in 2019 attributed to the intensified conduct of
strong police checkpoints and police visibility at the shooting hotspot area in
the region. The stepped up operations against gun for hire group across the
region, also led to the decline of shooting incident registered. Noted that out
of 40 shooting incidents from January-February 2019, Sixteen (16) could be
attributed to gun for hire, she said.
The intensified law enforcement
operations and the drug war have direct bearing on the decrease in the shooting
incidents registered region wide.

D Licup, PRO9 Regional Director lauded the police units of PRO9 for their
remarkable effort that resulted to the decrease of shooting incident registered
