PAGADIAN CITY (Feb. 18, 2021) - Western Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr. visited the Bilal Community, formerly known as Camp Bilal, at Sitio Kura Kura, Barangay Tumparan, Munai, Lanao del Norte on Wednesday afternoon, February 17, 2021.
Camp Bilal is one of the six MILF Camp that will be transformed into a peaceful and resilient community under the normalization program of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority.
Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. also met with Commissioner Abdullah Macapaar or known as “Commander Bravo” of the MILF. Commander Bravo is a famous leader of the now peace-inclined Moro Islamic Liberation Front. He also currently serves as a parliament member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority.
During their meeting, they discussed matters concerning the security, peace and development of Bilal community. Commander Bravo thanked Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. and the military engineers for facilitating the construction of several infrastructure projects such as the concreting of the farm-to-market roads in Bilal community.
Commander Bravo likewise vowed to strengthen collaboration with the military in fighting terrorism particularly in defeating the Daulah Islamiyah and neutralizing the lawless elements in the province. He also proposed the expansion of the Abaca farm from 15 hectares to 30 hectares and the procurement of equipment to raise the productivity of the Abaca industry in the area.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. commended the decision of Commander Bravo to settle the decades-long feud with the Dimaporo(s). “I am grateful for your gesture of support to our quest for lasting peace here in Lanao del Norte and even in the neighboring provinces,” said Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr.“Let us continue to work together for our fellow Filipinos and our country,” Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. added.
During his meeting with Commander Bravo, Lt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. was
accompanied by Brig. Gen. Facundo Palafox IV, outgoing Commander of the 2nd
Mechanized Infantry Brigade; Brig. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete, WestMinCom’s Deputy
Commander for Admin; Col. Rey Alemania, incoming Commander of the 2nd
Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Col. Charlemagne Batayola, Deputy Brigade Commander
of the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Lt. Col. Alfonso Matias, Jr.,
Commanding Officer of the 5th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Lt. Col. Domingo
Dulay, Commanding Officer of the 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, and other
