The military honor is a simple way of congratulating the two newly-promoted commanders of the brigades under the operational command of the WestMinCom.
Newly-promoted Brig. Gen. Domingo Gobway, the Commander of the 101st Infantry Brigade and Brig. Gen. Antonio Bautista, the Commander of the 1101st Infantry Brigade visited the Command purposely to pay a courtesy call to WestMinCom Commander Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr.
Brig. Gen. Gobway is a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990. He is the concurrent commander of the Joint Task Force Basilan, the unit that ensures the safety and security of the entire Basilan Province.
His subordinate units address the security threats posed by the Abu-Sayyaf Group in the province. Remarkably, the JTF Basilan have neutralized a total of 41 ASG members in 2020. Among the 41, seven were killed, 32 surrendered, and two were apprehended.
Brig. Gen. Bautista is a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991.
His unit, the 1101st Infantry Brigade ensures the safety and security of the communities in Patikul and Talipao, both of Sulu Province.
The said unit has reported numerous accomplishments under the leadership of the then Col. Bautista to include the launching of the Balik-Barangay Program and the neutralization of a significant number of terrorists including the 15 Abu Sayyaf Group members who yielded on December 11, 2020.
The units under his command and control remain steadfast in ending terrorism, crushing the Abu Sayyaf Group, and bringing about peace in their area of operation.
Meanwhile, during their visit, the two were received by Deputy Commander for Operations Brig. Gen. Camilo Balutan and the Command Staff at the Bautista Lounge in Camp Navarro, Calarian, Zamboanga CityLt. Gen. Vinluan, Jr. extended his congratulations to the two newly-promoted 1-star generals through Brig. Gen. Balutan.
