Screen Propaganda, Hollywood and the CIA

By Julie Lévesque
Global Research, February 28, 2013

“One of the most pervasive trends in 21st century western culture has become somewhat of an obsession in America. It’s called “Hollywood history”, where the corporate studio machines in Los Angeles spend hundreds of millions of dollars in order to craft and precisely tailor historical events to suit the prevailing political paradigm.” (Patrick Henningsen, Hollywood History: CIA Sponsored “Zero Dark Thirty”, Oscar for “Best Propaganda Picture”)
Black Hawk Dawn, Zero Dark Thirty and Argo, those are only a few major recent productions showing how today’s movie industry promotes US foreign policy. But the motion picture has been used for propaganda since the beginning of the 20th century and Hollywood’s cooperation with the Department of Defense, the CIA and other government agencies is no modern trend.

Philippine President Benigno Aquino warned a sultan on Tuesday he would face the "full force of the law" unless he withdrew his gunmen from Malaysia, but the elderly ruler remained defiant.

Dozens of followers of the little-known Sultan of Sulu have been facing off with Malaysian security forces for two weeks, after they sailed from their remote southern Philippine island homes to stake a territorial claim.

With the incident causing increasing embarrassment to the Philippine government, Aquino made a nationally televised address on Tuesday to try to pressure the sultan into bringing his gunmen back from Malaysia's Sabah state.

"If you choose not to cooperate, the full force of the laws of the state will be used to achieve justice for all who have been put in harm's way," Aquino said.

"This is a situation that cannot persist. If you are truly the leader of your people, you should be one with us in ordering your followers to return home peacefully."

PAGADIAN CITY - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region-IX is stepping-up its efforts in the implementation of the National Greening Program (NGP) of President Benigno S. Aquino III with the promotion of quality indigenous fruit tree seedlings.

Directly supervised by the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB), the preparation for the production of good native fruit tree seedlings through clonal farming is now in its final stage.

According to Environment Secretary Ramon Paje, “this increase in the ERDB’s base target is in keeping with the department’s move to shift from the use of exotic species to indigenous or native species.”

DENR-IX said the region has gained headway in the implementation of NGP with a total of 4,804 hectares of land planted to 2,402,000 forest and fruit trees in 2011.

Philippines to pursue nat’l interest in Sabah claim-Palace

By TJ Burgonio in Manila/Philippine Daily Inquirer | Asia News Network

Philippines Law
Professor Harry Roque
MANILA (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN) - The Palcce was "disturbed'' by the journey of an armed group from the Sultanate of Sulu to Sabah amid significant developments in the peace negotiations between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), but it vowed to uphold national interest in the country's dormant claim to Malaysia's eastern state.

University of the Philippines Law Professor Harry Roque said the journey, which has led to a standoff between the sultanate's forces and Malaysian authorities, should prod President Benigno Aquino III to bring the country's claim to Sabah to an arbitration before an international court.

And unless the country's claim to Sabah is put to rest, it would always stick out as a "nuisance'' in Philippine-Malaysian relations, according to Roque.

"We find it disturbing that these incidents are occurring just as we are nearing a deal that will bring peace and development to Muslim Mindanao,'' Strategic Communication Secretary Ricky Carandang said in a text message when sought for comment.

Deafening silence of the mainstream media. A historic law suit is in making. The BBC will be in the Dock in a British court accused of manipulating the news.
What is at stake is the BBC’s coverage of the 9/11 attacks.

On February 25, in the small town of Horsham in the United Kingdom, there will be a rare and potentially groundbreaking opportunity for the 9/11 truth movement. Three hours of detailed 9/11 evidence is to be presented and considered in a court of law where the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) will be challenged over the inaccurate and biased manner in which it has portrayed the events and evidence of 9/11.

Over the last 16 months, BBC has been challenged strongly by individuals in the UK over two documentaries that they showed in September 2011 as part of the tenth anniversary of 9/11, namely ‘9/11: Conspiracy Road Trip’ and ‘The Conspiracy Files: 9/11 Ten Years On’.

He said they gave Co the money sometime between the last week of August and first week of October last year.

Co already denied the allegations against him. This is the third complaint filed against the Pagadian City mayor.

Govt urged to use Bangsamoro peace deal to address Sabah claim

By Carmela G. Lapeña/KBK, GMA News

MANILA, PHILIPPINES - The Bangsamoro framework agreement signed between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) last year can address the longstanding Sabah claim, but the "traditional sentiments of sultanates" must be considered, an expert on the issue said Tuesday.

"Ang tanong diyan, saan ba diyan ang sultanate sa issue ng framework agreement? Kasi kung magkakaroon ng creative ways, na pupuwedeng magamit 'yung mga traditional sentiments including sultanates, magiging parte ng paghulma ng Bangsamoro, tingin natin isang pamamaraan 'yun na maa-address at least partly if not wholly 'yung issue ng Sabah claim," said UP Institute of Islamic Studies Dean Julkipli Wadi in an interview on GMA News TV's “News to Go.”

Some 400 people, including 20 gunmen, have been in a standoff with Malaysian police in Sabah since they crossed over early this month to reclaim the area as their ancestral territory. Sultan Jamalul Kiram said his followers will not leave Sabah despite being cornered by security forces.

Misuari supports Sulu's royal army

MNLF Chairman Nur Misuari
MANILA – Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) founding chairman Nur Misuari has extended his support to the Filipinos who crossed to the Malaysian state of Sabah to claim the land.

Misuari said the claimants, some 400 people who have been holed up in the Malaysian territory since last week, are the rightful heirs to the land.

"May karapatan yan. Ang sulu, iyung Sultanate of Sulu ay may-ari ng North Borneo," said Misuari, also the former governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

"Sila ang nagke-claim, ang legitimate na claimants is my family, my clan from my father's side. Ang importante ay somebody or a group representing the Bangsamoro people, the Tausugs, ay sila ay mag-claim ng ownership."
