CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Sept. 8 (PNA) -– Mayor Romeo Pulmones has urged the
public to help the law enforcers in the fight against all forms of criminality
in this city.
Pulmones
made the call as this city joined the observance of the 21st National Crime
Prevention Week that kicked off Monday, citing crime prevention is the task of
everyone and not just of the law enforcers.
“Let us
help our police force in resolving and fighting against all forms of
criminalities in our city,” Pulmones added.
He
commended the local police for the good performance and gaining the support to
the community in the maintenance of peace and order to include in the anti-drug
campaign.
Senior
Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre, provincial police director, reported that the crime
volume for the first semester of this year dropped by 32 percent.
Ecaldre
said that shooting incidents dropped by 25 percent and crime against property
declined by 48 percent.
This
year’s National Crime Prevention Week observance is anchored on the theme
“Krimen ay Tuldukan, Karapatan ay Igalang.” (PNA)
