CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Aug. 13 (PNA) -– Almost half of Barangay Tawagan Sur
in this city remained flooded today, Thursday, as the river in the village
overflowed due to continuous downpour in the mountainous area of this city that
started Thursday dawn.
Haron
Damada, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, told the
Philippines News Agency there was no reported damage yet but classes at the
Tawagan Sur National School were suspended.
Damada
said that more than 50 hectares of rice field were submerged but there was no
damage reported as of 2 p.m. Thursday.
He
said CDRRMO personnel have been ordered to clear the drainage system in order
for the flood water to rescind. (PNA)
