MARAWI
CITY, Lanao del Sur, Sept. 1 (PNA) -– Around 10,000 residents of the city
expressed objection through a manifesto against Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s
version of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).
The
manifesto was passed on Monday during the multi-sectoral prayer rally which
called for the passage of the original version of the proposed BBL.
The
rally started around 8:00 a.m. on Monday held at the Plaza Cabili, Banggolo and
ended past noon of the same day.
In
chorus, they shouted that the only acceptable proposed BBL is the one that was
drafted by the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC) and certified as priority
bill by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III.
The
protesters said that any substantial changes, amendments of substitutions
thereto shall meet with a resounding “no” in the plebiscite.
“It
is also utmostly prayed for the enactment of the original BBL sooner than
later,” the manifesto stated.
Datu
Musa Sultan, head of the Ranao Consideration for Peace, said they still have
faith and trust that the Framework of Agreement on the Bangsamoro and the
Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro bear so much hope and prospects to
settle the centuries-old conflict in Mindanao.
The
prayer rally was attended by the different personalities from the provinces of
Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte who support the passage of the original
version of the BBL. (PNA)
