PAGADIAN
CITY - Barangay Dao which is formerly known as the home of Philippine Australian
Development Assistant Program (PADAP) was developed and converted into a
Provincial Government Center and now become the Sports and Scouting’s capital of
Zamboanga Peninsula after former Second District Congressman Antonio “Tony”
Hererra Cerilles elected as Governor of Zamboanga del Sur on 2010 national and
local elections.
The
Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice Governor Juan Regala, supported the
Governor’s agenda through legislation for the development not only in Dao but of
the entire province of Zamboanga del Sur.

Dao is also tagged as the home of Boys and Girls Scouts of the province after Governor Tony
developed the area for scouting activities which already hosted for the first
time the Mindanao Jamboree on 2011 attended by Vice President of the Republic
of the Philippines
The
former PADAP compound as you can see the difference is unbelievable after
the present administration has the political will to implement huge infrastructure
projects, construction of buildings and landscaping, constructions of different
sports facilities to cater big events like the recently concluded ZPRAA 2013.
The
Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center equipped with modern medical facilities was
intentionally constructed in Dao for the realization of one of the seven point
agenda which is the health services to the people in the province of Zamboanga
del Sur.
The
former PADAP compound is also the regular venue of annual and weeklong festivity of
province which is known as " Megayon Festival " that is celebrated every September 17 for the commemoration of the founding anniversary of the province.
