PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur, Sept. 17 (PNA) -– The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and
the provincial government have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the
establishment of a training center here for Sepak Takraw’s Philippine Team.
The MOA was signed
during the recent Batang Pinoy-Mindanao Leg in this city. The signatories were
Gov. Antonio Cerilles and PSC Commissioner Jose Luis Gomez.
The provincial
government will provide two housing units to house the Philippine Team members
of Sepak Takraw as well as free use of the sports facilities in Barangay Dao,
this city, as stipulated under the MOA.
The PSC will shoulder
the salaries, allowances and foods of the national team members and to train
athletes with potentials in the sports of Sepak Takraw.

Cerilles is optimistic
this province will be able to produce Sepak Takraw athletes to join the
national team and reap medals in future athletic competitions.
Sepak Takraw or kick
volleyball, a sports native to Southeast Asia, is now being played in world
athletic competitions. (PNA)
