PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur, Oct. 20 (PNA) -– The National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS)
has lined up several activities for the celebration of the Meat Safety
Consciousness Week (MSCW) that reeled off Monday, October 20, here in the
region.
NMIS Regional
Technical Director Arturo De Jesus Jr. said Monday the activities include radio
program, hanging of streamers, thanksgiving mass, media forum, greening
activities, good handling practices for homemakers and a fellowship.
De Jesus said at
least 100 participants composed mostly of eateries and sari-sari storeowners
are invited to attend the seminar on good handling practices for homemakers.
De Jesus said the
seminar will be held in the barangays of Manga and Tuburan, this city since the
celebration underscores the importance of meat safety consciousness among
stakeholders.
He said they will
also plant fruit-bearing trees at the watershed area in Barangay Manga, this
city, as the agency’s corporate social responsibility in helping the government
address the adverse effects of climate change.
This year’s MSCW is
anchored on the theme “RA 101611 Food Safety Act: “Kaligtasan Ng Mamamayan At
Katuwang Sa Kalakalan.” The MSCW celebration ends on Friday, October 24. (PNA)
