Zamboanga City (January
7, 2017) - The Police Regional Office 9 commemorates the 28th Death Anniversary
of two fallen officers BGen Eduardo B. Batalla and Col. Romeo A. Abendan held
at the Police Regional Office 9 Headquarters, Camp Col. Romeo A. Abendan,
Mercedes, Zamboanga City and JRT Lim, Boulevard, Zamboanga City yesterday.
Information Officer
PSupt. Rogelio C. Alabata disclosed that Police Senior Superintendent Narciso B.
Verdadero, Deputy Regional Director for Operation, who led the commemoration of
the 28th death anniversary of Col. Romeo A Abendan. The activity started with
the Thanksgiving Mass officiated by PCInsp. Marlou N. Labares, Assistant
Regional Chaplain and attended by the Command Group, Regional Staffs, Officers
and personnel of PRO9 with Mrs. Gloria A Abendan, wife of the late Col. Romeo A.
Abendan, and the immediate family.
This was followed by
Wreath-Laying Ceremony and the 21nd Gun Salute rendered by the personnel of Regional
Public Safety Battalion 9, Alabata added.
PSSupt. Narciso B. Verdadero
delivered the message of the Acting Regional Director, PRO9, in which he
stressed that the heroism of Col. Romeo A. Abendan was worth remembering.
This was followed by
response made by Mrs. Gloria Abendan, wherein, in her message, she expressed
her sincerest thanks to the men and women of the PRO9 led by PCSupt. Billy B. Beltran
for always remembering and acknowledging the heroism made by her late husband. She
also thanks the officers and men of PRO9 for giving importance the death of her
husband as manifestation of every year’s commemorative rites in the PRO9 Camp.
Meanwhile, PSSupt Jose Bayani
L. Gucela, Regional Chief Directorial Staff, spearheaded the commemoration of
the 28th Death Anniversary of BGen Eduardo B. Batalla held at the grounds of
Camp Eduardo B Batalla, JRT Lim, Boulevard, Zamboanga City.
