Sulu leaders unite to end kidnapping and drugs

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (November 16, 2016) - Local Chief Executives of Sulu 2nd District led by Congressman Abdulmunir Mundoc Arbison set aside their differences and become united to stop kidnapping and drugs in Sulu at Headquarters Western Mindanao Command (WesMinCom) in Zamboanga City Tuesday morning, military official said.

Information Officer Cpt. Jason Roy P. Mararac disclosed that according to Col. Jesus A. Mananaquil Jr., Commander of 101st Infantry Brigade that has operational jurisdiction in some areas of the province said " We welcome this huge opportunity that our local leaders have resolved their differences and become one and determined to end kidnapping and drugs proliferation in Sulu. I am sure that it will have a positive impact in our campaign against the Abu Sayaff Group (ASG)." 

"We believe that thru the concerted efforts of the AFP units and local leaders in Sulu we will be succesful in ending ASG's nefarious activities in the province." BGen. Arnel Dela Vega JTF Sulu Commander stressed in the meeting.

It can be recalled that most of the kidnapped victims are being held by Sulu based ASG and as of posting,  14 kidnapped victims are yet to be rescued 5 of which are Filipinos and 9 are foreigners.

The meeting was hosted by LtGen. Mayoralgo Dela Cruz, AFP commander of Western Mindanao Command.
