DOLE-9 gets more budgets for 2013

PAGADIAN City – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 9 allocated at least Php29 million for the implementation of this year Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), Labor Regional Director Sisinio B. Cano said.

“Because of our significant accomplishments in 2012 our fund allocation for our projects has been augmented, such that our program on SPES was increased from P19 million last year to P29 million this year, an increase of P10 million,” Cano told the reporters during the press conference held recently.

DOLE also get Php10.2 million Budget increase for livelihood assistance program from Php7 million budgets last year. The said funding will be equally distributed to the different congressional districts in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula, DOLE Regional Director added.  

It was also learned that Region 9 has no reported incidence of stoppage of work due to strike or labor dispute and successfully maintained its record as industrial peace which is a manifestation of a very good partnership with the business community especially the labor and employer sector that tag as “strike-free region”

Director Cano expressed his thanks to the labor, management sector, and other partners in the government in helping sustain the status of a zero strike which was recognized by DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz.
