MARAWI CITY – A
total of 12 high powered firearms with ammunition were intercepted by the
military belong to the 65th Infantry Battalion and apprehended two
persons on board a sports utility
vehicle while conducting a COMELEC gun ban check point operations at Marawi City
Wednesday night January 23, 2013.

Ralph-Raul SespeƱe said that the government operatives initially observed the said
vehicle with no plate number to be apparently evading the checkpoint at Brgy
Datu Saber of said city. When the soldiers flagged it down, it yielded in plain
view one Minimi 5.56mm rifle with the passenger. Upon further visual search
inside the vehicle, it yielded more guns or a total of 12 high powered firearms
with ammunition as follows:
- 1 pc SAR Galil Rifle
- 1 pc 7.62mm M14 Rifle
- 4 pcs. Baby Armalite 5.56m
M653 Rifle with M203 Grenade Launchers
- 2 pc. 5.56mm M16 Rifle
- 1 pc. Cal .308 RiflE
- 1 pc 9 mm Machine Rifle
- 1.pc US 12 Gauge Shotgun
The two persons aboard
the vehicle were identified as Muslimin Binao Ali and Junaid Ali were brought
to Marawi City Police Station for filing appropriate charges regarding the
violation on COMELEC GUN BAN case. The vehicle and the firearms were brought to
the headquarters of 65IB for legal disposition processing.
The efforts of our soldiers will continue
to ensure a peaceful and credible national and local election this coming May
13, 2013 election, Major General Ricardo Rainier Cruz III, Commander of the 1st
Infantry Division assured the people.
