TAMBULIG, ZAMBOANGA
DEL SUR – A member of Local Communist Movement NPA finally voluntarily
surrendered to the CAFGU Detachment of
Alpha Company, 5IB under the operational control of 55th Infantry
Battalion on of Tuesday at 11:30 in the evening of January 29, 2013 following
the on going Bayanihan Team Operations.
Commanding Officer
of the 55IB LTC Rommel Almaria identified the surrendered NPA as a certain Alex
Dungog also known as (AKA) Ronald, 28 years old belong to the Section committee
(SECCOM) JOJI of Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee. Ronald surrendered
without firearm to a CAFGU Detachment at Tambulig, Zamboanga del Sur under the
operational control of his battalion, LTC Almaria said.
Accordingly, the
said NPA member is a resident of Brgy Tabugon of same municipality and joined
the Local Communist Movement sometimes on October 2011, and he decided to go
back to the folds of the law due to family reason and hardship in living in the
mountains.
The Commander of
the 1st Infantry Division, Major General Ricardo Rainier Cruz III commended
the Bayanihan Team and the local officials of Brgy Tabugon of said municipality
for the successful negotiations. He also gladly welcomes the decision of Alex
Dungog to go back to his family and live a peaceful life.
“We are expecting
more members of NPA to abandon their armed struggle in days to come due to the sincere
effort of our soldiers and local government officials who are facilitating to
bring peace and development to the countryside thru the Bayanihan Team Operations,”
The Army’s Premier Division Chief hoping.
It can be recalled that an NPA member
with firearms surrendered to a CAFGU Detachment under 55IB at Ozamis City last
December 2012.
