PAGADIAN
CITY – One wounded from the government side that sustained one gunshot wound on
his left leg as a result of the harassment perpetrated by at least undetermined numbers of
armed men believed to be a members of CPP-NPA/NDF of the Western Mindanao Regional Party
Committee (WMRPC) operating in the area.
The
victim was brought immediately to Calamba District Hospital by the CAFGU personnel.
In
a reports reaching the headquarters of the First Infantry
(Tabak)
Division that on or about 4:30 in the afternoon of August 23, 2912, the NPA
rebels were positioned at about 150 meters west part of the Detachment of 5th
Missamis Occidental CAA Coy of 5th Infantry Battalion stationed in
Brgy. Upper Potrongan Concepcion Missamnis Occidental suddenly fired them.
The
exchange of fire lasted for about 5 minutes until the armed men withdrawn towards
unknown direction.
“We
believed that the rebels also suffered undetermined casualty based from the
bloods stained recovered from the escaped route,” Military official said.
Hot
pursuit and combat operations is still ongoing while the Police authorities
undertaking their investigation on the incident.
The
said CAFGU Detachment has been receiving threats from the NPA rebels operating
the area long ago due to the effective Radio Broadcasting Service (RBS)
conducted by the First Civil Military Operations Battalion co-located in the
said place.
The
detachment is responsible in providing truthful information on Bayanihan
efforts of the government regarding their exposes of illegal activities
committed by the NPA in the province of Missamis Occidental.
Furthermore,
the said EBS has been effective also in facilitated the safe surrender of some
armed NPA and its sympathizers to the First Infantry (Tabak) Division.
Meanwhile,
Maj. Gen. Ricardo Rainier G. Cruz III, the Tabak Commander urged CAFGU members
from the detachment within their area of responsibilities to be vigilant at all
times and continue the Bayanihan efforts in the respective areas so that
development in the area will continue and the people in the communities will be
