ZAMBOANGA CITY, Aug. 7 (PNA) -– The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is set to start the
distribution next month of the standard vehicle plates to transport owners in
this city.
LTO Regional Director
Aminola Abaton said Thursday that they expect the arrival of 5,000 to 10,000
standard vehicle plates from LTO-central office in the second week of August.
Abaton said that
first to be issued with the new standard plates are the owners of new vehicles
that will be registered with his office.
The new standard
vehicle plates are for four-wheel vehicles and motorcycles, according to Abaton.
He said the new plate
was patterned after the standards adopted by the European transport authority.
It has barcode,
security features, and tamper-proof, which means it could not be removed once
installed.
Abaton said the new
plate number will also indicate the place where the vehicle was registered.
