PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur, July 23 (PNA) -- The provincial government is conducting
selection of athletes to comprise the local delegation to participate in the
forthcoming Milo Little Olympics-Mindanao Leg this year.
The Mindanao Leg of
the sports competition is scheduled in August in Cagayan de Oro City.
Provincial
Information Officer Marivic Jongco said Wednesday that the selection of
athletes is being spearheaded by Provincial Sports Coordinator Jet Ivan
Labrador.
Jongco said the
province is sending athletes to compete in the following secondary level sports
events: basketball (boys); athletics (boys and girls); swimming (boys and
girls); lawn tennis (boys and girls); table tennis (boys and girls); and,
badminton (boys and girls).
Jongco said she see
that the local athletic delegation will excel in their respective sports event.
In previous years,
this province was the champion in the basketball boy secondary category in the
Mindanao Leg and bagged the bronze medal in the same event in the national
finals.
The Milo Little
Olympic is a sports event for athletes 17 years old and below. It is being held
under the auspices of the NESTLE’ Corporation.
Jongco said the
sending of delegation to the Mindanao Leg of the Milo Little Olympics has the
full support of Gov. Antonio Cerilles. (PNA)
