week due to the continuous conduct of clean-up drive.

PAGADIAN CITY,
Zamboanga del Sur, Aug. 16 (PNA) -- Mayor Nacianceno Pacalioga of the nearby
town of Dumingag announced they have managed to contain the spread of dengue
cases in his municipality.
Pacalioga said
Saturday that it was done through the conduct of house-to-house clean-up drive
in the town’s 44 barangays with the participation of the residents and barangay
officials.
He said the municipal
officials including the vice-mayor and councilors have formed eight teams to
conduct weekly inspections in the different barangays to ensure that
cleanliness is maintained.
Pacalioga said that
government offices including barangay halls and other public structures were
also included in the clean-up drive.
He said the municipal
government is coming up with a competition to ensure that cleanliness is
maintained in every household and the community.
He said the winners
of the cleanliness competition will be announced and awarded in December of
this year.
Meanwhile, Pacalioga
is also thankful to the Department of Health (DOH) and the provincial
government for the assistance provided to them during the clean-up drive in the
different barangays of the town.
The DOH provided the
fogging machines that were used as part of the efforts to eliminate mosquitoes
that are carriers of dengue. (PNA)
