PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga
del Sur (Jan.17, 2015-MPF News) --- A total of 2,850 Motorized Tricycle
Franchised holders and members of Pagadian City Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association
(PACTODA) celebrated the 8th Tricycle Operators and Drivers Day
(TOD-Day) Thursday as one of the activities of the week-long celebration of the
Pasalamat Festival 2015 following the City Saint Patron Sto. NiƱio on Juanary
18.
City Council Committee
Chairman on Communication and Transportation City Councilor Arnold Gavenia said
the celebration of TOD-Day was though the City Ordinance 2k-267.
Gavenia said the
highlights of the celebration was the fellowship, Raffle Draws and the showing
of skills and talents of the tricycle drivers that can be witnessed only here
in Pagadian City by running the motorcycle with sidecar-up exhibition with
passengers at the sidecar and back-rider.
Gavenia added that the
design of motorized tricycle was intentional made to fit the terrain in the
city.
He also said that the
design was protected by the City Council through a City Ordinance as the main
transportation of the city and a tourist attraction.
PACTODA President Jesuseller Duterte
said the opening of the celebration was started at 8:00AM with the Motorcade
around the City Major Street and followed by the different sports, parlor
games, free haircut and educational Tricycle Race.
He added that in the
evening is the live band at the city covered court and the raffles of ticket
with 3 single motorcycles for the first, 2nd and 3rd
prizes with 10 electric fans for consolation prizes.
On Friday was also is
the Drug Race competition along the F.S Pajares Avene San Jose District with
the participants coming from the Cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan, Davao,
Dipolog, Zambianga, Surigao and Ozamiz and from the town of Ipil, Zamboanga
Sibugay and Jimenes, Misamis Occidental.
