PAGADIAN
CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, April 18 (PNA) -– The local electric cooperative is
implementing daily rotational brownout as one of its power providers is on
emergency shutdown.
Liberal
Cabatcha, Zamboanga del Sur Electric Cooperative-1 (Zamsureco-1) spokesman, on
Monday told the Philippines News Agency that the emergency shutdown came after
one of the four units of the Therma South Power Station conked out last week.
Cabatcha
said the Davao del Sur-based Therma South power plant supplies 10 of the 34
megawatts power demand of Zamsureco-1.
Cabatcha
said they have to implement four to five hours daily rotational brownout to
enable them to serve the consumers of Zamsureco-1.
The
schedule of rotational brownouts is two to three hours in the morning and one
to two hours in the afternoon.
Cabatcha
said they have not received notice from the power provider as to how long will
it take to complete the repair works.
Zamsureco-1
serves this city and 24 of the 26 towns of this province with 69,857 active
connections.
The
other power suppliers of Zamsureco-1 aside from the Therma South are the
following: Davao-based Aboitiz Power Corporation, 5-MW; Misamis Oriental based
Mindanao Steag Power Station 5-MW; and National Power Corporation (Napocor)
14-MW. (PNA)
