The Aquino
administration’s National Greening Program will be enhanced with the nationwide
tree-planting activity of Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) held
on Saturday, October13, 2012.
The tree-planting activity, dubbed as “Oplan Broadcastreeing,” is in line with the KBP’s partnership with the DENR to mobilize and organize its members for the nationwide tree-planting.
The 39
chapters of the KBP nationwide was planted thousands of seedlings
simultaneously nationwide in support of the Department of Environment and
Natural Resources’ National Greening Program (NGP).
The tree-planting activity, dubbed as “Oplan Broadcastreeing,” is in line with the KBP’s partnership with the DENR to mobilize and organize its members for the nationwide tree-planting.
KBP said that its tree-planting
activity in the National Capital Region (NCR) was done at Barangay Pintong
Bukawe, San Mateo, Rizal.
The government’s National
Greening Program, which was launched last year, targets to plant 1.5 billion tree
seedlings in 1.5 million hectares nationwide from 2011 to 2016.
Priority areas for planting
include mangrove and protected areas, CBFM areas, ancestral domain areas, civil
and military reservation areas, urban areas under the greening plan of LGUs, inactive
and abandoned mine sites, and all other suitable public lands for
