PAGADIAN
CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, March 23 (PNA) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
has set a target collection goal of PHP1.060 billion for this year in this
province.
Casan
Azis, head of the Revenue District Office No. 92, said Monday that this year’s
target collection goal represents 16 percent of the targeted collection of
PHP6.57 billion for the entire region.
Azis
also said the target collection goal for this year is higher than last year’s
PHP895 million set by the BIR regional office.
Azis
said he is optimistic they can meet the target collection goal of this year
with the full support of the concerned stakeholders although they fell short by
10.5 percent in the collection of taxes last year.
He
disclosed that last year they were able to collect PHP801 million which was
lower by PHP94 million or 10.5 percent than the target collection goal of
PHP895.
Meanwhile,
BIR Regional Director Alert Alocilja has appealed to the taxpaying public for
their sense of patriotic duty in paying the right amount of their taxes.
Alocilja
said the government needs the support of the taxpaying public for the country
to prosper. (PNA)
