ZAMBOANGA
CITY, March 12 (PNA) -- The police are conducting thorough investigation to
unmask the gunman behind the killing of a lady barangay official in a remote
barangay in the province of Zamboanga del Sur.
Sanelyn
Digol, 27, a barangay councilwoman of Cogon, Vincenzo Sagun, Zamboanga del Sur
was shot to death by an unidentified gunman around 7 p.m. Wednesday in Purok
Santan, Barangay Cogon.
Senior
Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre, Zamboanga del Sur police director, said that initial
investigation showed Digol was driving her motorcycle on the way home when the
suspect accosted her.
Ecaldre
said the victim came from her class in Margosatubig town, Zamboanga del Sur
when the incident occurred.
Ecaldre
said Digol was rushed to the Margosatubig Regional Hospital by responding
policemen who found her sprawled on the pavement but was pronounced dead on
arrival by the attending physician.
He
said the victim succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.
He
ordered the investigator to immediately file the case once the identity of the
suspect will be established. (PNA)
