SSupt.S.P. Ecaldre
PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (Nov.3, 2014-MPF News) --- The two-day celebration of All Souls Day in the province of Zamboanga del Sur and Pagadian City is generally peaceful, Police Official said.

Zamboaga del Sur Police Provincial Director Senior Supt. Sofronio Ecaldre said Monday that no untoward incident reported during the two-day celebration  due to tight security measures jointly implemented by the military and Local Government Units (LGUs).

Police were on “Red Alert” since Friday up to Monday to ensure safety of the people while at the public cemetery and until they return home, Ecaldre said.

Random check point manned by the Provincial Public Safety Battalion was established along the national highway particularly in the boundaries of Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidetal, Zamboanga del Norte and in Zamboanga Sibugay to secure our motorist against highway robbery and all forms of criminalities.

He said the tight security was also implemented at the Integrated Bus Terminals (IBT), Public Markets, Shopping Malls and Coastal areas.

Police Public Assistance Center was also in place in the public and private cemeteries during the celebration in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) down to the municipal and barangay levels through its Barangay Emergency Response Team (BERT) and Barangay Tanud.

In Pagadian City, tight security was also conducted and strict implementation of re-routing of all public utility vehicles (PUJ) and private vehicles in going to Barangays of Paglaum, Sta. Maria and Tuburan routes to Pagadian City Public Cemetery and Memorial Garden.

The Public also commended the LGU of Pagadian for providing Multi-cab vehicle for free rides within the vicinity of Public Cemetery and Memorial Garden due to non entry of PUJ in the area.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) was also joining the public safety campaign to avoid fire incidents during the All Souls Day.

Mostly, problems recorded from the Police Public Assistance Center are manageable including missing or unfound graves in the public cemetery, Pagadian City Chief of Police Supt. Glenn Dulawan said.

He also added that the latest report was on Monday at 3:00 dawn regarding personal problem due to the influence of liquor and the suspects involved were temporarily detained at the police lock-up cell for safe keeping. (By Jong Cadion)
