Fishing Boat Held in Alicia, ZamboSibugay for Illegal Fishing

PAGADIAN CITY, ZamboSur (July 7, 2018) – The PNP elements of Alicia Municipal Police Station (MPS) intercepted the fishing boat during the conduct of seaborne patrol along the Municipal Seawater of Alicia municipality of Zamboanga Sibugay province at about 9:40pm of July 5, 2018, police official said.

Regional Police Office-9 PIO Chief CINSP Helen L. Galvez identified the apprehended motorized fishing boat locally known as “Trawl” with more or less sixty-meters rope, five-meters fine mesh net, and two KAMA engines with 10HP each.

CINSP Galvez disclosed that the fishing boat was caught in the act performing illegal fishing activity along the sea vicinity of Sitio Tantawan, Gulayon, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay with two-crews namely:
Hadie Balingbingan, 20 years old, single, and
Arnel Jordan, 34 years old, married, both residents of Barangay Timbang-Timbang Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Confiscated fishing paraphernalia’s amounting to more or less nineteen thousand pesos (Php 19,000.00), Galvez said.

Galvez added that the confiscated fishing paraphernalias and the crews were brought to Alicia MPS for documentation and then was turned over to the Municipal Agriculture Office for the imposition of prescribed penalty embodied in the Municipal Fisheries Ordinance.
